Place names

edit

I know that Kennedy is frequently called Ciudad Kennedy, which translates to Kennedy City, but I have a few problems with the move from the original Kennedy (Bogotá). First, the official locality name is simply Kennedy. Second, were it to be officially named Ciudad Kennedy, it should remain in the original Spanish as it is a proper noun. We wouldn't think to rename Buenos Aires or even Santa Fé (Bogotá). Unless there's serious objection, I plan to get this unmoved next week. --Hwonder talk contribs 03:50, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Kennedy" as locality is not only the former urban complex of "Ciudad Kennedy" (Ciudad Techo from 1961 to 1963) but also the other neighborhoods which surround that complex of buildings. Before being created as a locality, this zone belonged to Bosa, a small town of the Capital District. The name Kennedy was de facto between 1963 to 1970, but it became official since then on by the creation of the locality. For all legal effects, this part of the city is known and recognized by law as "Kennedy".Rafa XIII (talk) 00:05, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
