Birth?
editSome sources state that she was born in 1993 in Pereira and moved to Alexandria aged 7. Where's the truth? --Rave (talk) 09:42, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
She was born and raised in Virginia/DMV area. Her mother is a WHITE woman named Betsy Loaiza. My mother and her mother work together. Karly is hiding the fact that she is half white to appeal more to people of color Vjmusican (talk) 18:49, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- I am Colombia. My mother looks white. Some Colombian are white. Her ethnicity is also mentioned in the BCC source cited in the article. "Born Karly-Marina Loaiza in Virginia, she was raised in her parents' native Colombia before violence forced them to flee back to the US in 2000." https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-45005019 TheTypingKat (talk) 04:51, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Singer says the article has false information!?
editSearching on Twitter in Portuguese, I saw a twitter from a fan site where the singer says (in a story on Instagram, which is no longer on the air, print) where she says that 80% of the information on Wikpedia is false. I thought it was an exaggeration, but when I get here I find almost an entire topic with no sources!Theys York (talk) 21:38, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Maintenance template removal
editI am posting about removing the "lack of sources" maintence template from the Kali Uchis article. It has approx 50 sources to-date. TheTypingKat (talk) 04:59, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Why are people hellbent on changing her birth year to 1994 when it’s incorrect?
editKarly Loaiza was born in 1993, she graduated high school in 2011, there is proof of this. There is also proof of her being an 8th grader in 2007. Kali has spoken about how she almost didn’t even graduate because she skipped classes and was put in esl classes. (Redacted) In various interviews that are dated before her birthday, she is stated to be the corresponding age for someone born in 1993 turning a year older on July 17. Various biographies written about her on official music sites have her birth year listed as 1993. In 2018, her birth year was mysteriously edited to 1994. There is substantial proof that Karly Loaiza was born in 1993. (Redacted) Chuckyhok (talk) 22:18, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Reference 3 in article says July 17, 1994. If you have a better reference provide it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:05, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Current version of reference 3 says Born July 17, 1994 in Alexandria, VA, archive version of same reference says
- Born July 17, 1993 in Pereira, Colombia. This is the main source of the birthdate and it conflicts with itself for both date and location. 1993 has better support with other sources but that only gives the year. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:25, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Nationality in lead
editMOS:CONTEXTBIO covers a lot of examples of people with multiple nationalities. Generally we mention nationality where notable activities occurred. For Uchis this is the US where she was born, resides and works. Nothing in article indicates any notable activities on Colombia, her other nationality. Dual nationality is mentioned in article but doesn't go in lead as is not related to notability or notable activities. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:48, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
