Re-write of article, specifically "Downfall" and "Sumo coaching role"
editHi anyone who reads,
Me and a few other people have been saying for a while that this page really needs a re-write because of the order and method it presents infomation in: specifically, in the "Downfall and expulsion" section, it says that Kitao stormed out of an argument and hit his stablemaster's wife on the way out. However, in the "Sumo coaching role section", it mentions that Kitao returned to the sumo world because the stablemaster whose wife he supposedly hit had retired due to illegally pocketing stable funding, and that "most of what was alleged to have taken place between Kitao and Sojō was made up by the latter." This essentially implies that Kitao did not strike the woman, and also calls into doubt many other things he was accused of.
The issue is that these two facts are spread out in the article, with the accusation of hitting a woman coming near the start, but the refutal coming close to the end. I've seen many cases of people who assume that the guy was a woman beater and a bad yokozuna and never get as far as reading the later section on the fact his stablemaster wasn't exactly a paragon of virtue himself (illegally pocketing stable funds) and that according to the source, many of the accusations against Kitao were made up by said stablemaster.
The article should be rewritten to make this clearer, spefically having it mention that many of the things he was accused of were seemingly made up by someone who himself was expelled from sumo and was rumoured to be involved in other things (Yakuza involvement, stealing rikishi bonuses, etc.). Kitao sounds like he was a difficult person to get along with for sure, but it seems clear he was unfairly expelled from sumo; the Kyokai wouldn't have let him anywhere near a heya again even unofficially if what he was accused of was true, but it seems like people weren't willing to admit they were wrong the first time round.
If no one else is interested in doing it, I'll have a go at the rewriting when I have the time and post it here before I update the article.

- I briefly added a small section link to the relevant part of the article for now that describes this accusation as being probably made up, which will hopefully be enough for now. I do think the section needs rewriting though. Hidenotora (talk) 12:20, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
