Mm, the Spanish Wikipedia reference does categorize as a self-reference; it's simply sourcing Wikipedia from a Wikipedia article. The English version of an article should ideally have exactly the same references (and content) as different language versions; the fact that one was written before the other is trivial enough to leave out. An initial edit summary of something like "translated from es" should be enough to note where it came from. ~ PseudoSudo 05:14, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think using another language Wikipedia is a self-reference. Take a look at Wikipedia:Spanish Translation of the Week/History. Most of these former translations have references that go Spanish Wikipedia.--Bkwillwm 00:16, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
