Fact checking
editCould someone check these facts, fill in the dates and generally improve this piece?
Will be doing so shortly.
First of all, due to a term limits law, he's not eligible to run for a fourth term.
The rest of the article is opinion, and will be replaced with hopefully more NPOV material soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by N8chz (talk • contribs) 14:46, 6 September 2002 (UTC)
Early article text
editEngler has, for some time now, been the president of the Republican Governors Association, and was instrumental in selecting George W. Bush for the party nomination. He was even rumored to be on the short list for the vice-presidency. But, when Michigan fell to Senator John McCain in the primary, Engler was seen as having failed his own candidate at a key moment.

Nicknames from subpage
editThere was a list of nicknames for this chap given at John Engler/Nicknames, thus:
- Johnny E
- The Fatman
- The Breeder
- Oliver Clothesoff
I don't know if any of them are accurate or of interest. If somebody else does, it may be worth putting them into the article. --Camembert — Preceding undated comment added 02:24, 25 March 2003 (UTC)
- As a lifelong resident of Michigan, I never heard any of these names used. There were often unpleasant names attached to him briefly, but none stuck. --Dcclark 04:41, 11 April 2005 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Seal-of-Michigan.png
editImage:Seal-of-Michigan.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
