Actually, Jan was employed by CIESAS-Sureste (the southeast branch of CIESAS), located in San Cristobal de Las Casas, for quite a number of years before he passed away. I don't know the exact dates, but sometime after the Zapatista uprising in 1994, he moved back to San Cristobal from Mexico City, and lived there full time until his death. You may want to contact CIESAS-Sureste for more information on his exact dates of residence and employment in San Cristobal. My information is gathered first hand, since I knew him when I lived in San Cristobal beginning in 2007, and I was a guest student at CIESAS.
