Randy Rhoads

edit

Randy Rhoads died at around the time the guitar went into production. He never really had a chance to take it out on the road, and there are no known photos with him playing it.

I've seen tons of photos of Randy playing his black Rhoads V (with the stopbar tailpece) AND his white one with black pinstripes (and Floyd Rose vibrato bar).

If you can find a picture of him playing his black rhoads, that would have been great! The white and black pinstripe v is not the one talked about here, because it was the prototype. And so the body was wider and less cut in by the bridge. There is pictures of him playing that. Heiz 15:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Randy and Jackson were designing the guitar when he died. They'd make one, he would say 'change this', they'd make another. And so on and so forth. So, yes, correct, Randy never played a Rhoads. But, the guitar was never going to be called a Rhoads. So, had he lived, none of us would be playing a Rhoads, lol.
The white one is a Concorde, which could be considered a Rhoads prototype. The black one (not to be confused with the polka dotted one) is also a prototype, but is much closer to the Rhoads we know today. I don't know of any concert shots of him playing the black one, just pictures of him at home with it. Beginchile (talk) 13:21, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Motorhead

edit

Phil Campbell of Motorhead should be add to the list of other guitarists who use Randy Rhoads —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.129.216 (talk) 23:22, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kai Hansen should be removed from that list. He does not and has not ever used Jackson guitars; his main guitar is a red ESP Custom based on Jackson's Randy Rhoads model —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.75.17.223 (talk) 00:01, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's true Kai Hansen has never played Jackson guitars. Also, Marty Friedman did not play the Rhoads (he played a Kelly), and neither did Adrian Smith (he played a King V). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.220.104.15 (talk) 17:18, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The guitar that Brian May uses in Queen's "Princes of the Universe" video is NOT a Jackson Rhoads. The body shape doesn't match, and neither does the headstock. Just because it is a pointy assymetric V, doesn't mean it's an RR. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.209.17.133 (talk) 20:43, 18 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's a Washburn RR-V (https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Washburn_RR-V_Tour_Series). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1812:1D2B:5A00:480A:144E:D659:67FD (talk) 18:14, 11 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Marty Friedman did used it. You can check in the 1992 Hammersmith Odeon Live. In fact, even though we are used to remember Megadeth episodes of Marty with a Jackson Kelly on his hands, in that show he used it just in the first song: Holy Wars... The Punishment Due. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.215.102.241 (talk) 05:39, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Laiho/Latvala

edit

Can anyone find article talking about the L/L? I have never heard of this before, and it sounds weird because neither of them use(d) Rosewood fretboards or bolt-on necks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.105.104 (talk) 23:07, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I realize that this comment is six years old, but I will answer it. To the best of my knowledge: Alex Laiho was a Jackson user. He was in the process of getting a signature model when his gear was stolen. Jackson takes a long time to make guitars and couldn't get spec'd gear to him quick enough. Esp helped him out and offered him a deal for more money. He accepted. The designs for the Laiho Rhoads became the RR24, specifically it became the "factory error RR24" - which I believe was 2006. WRONG TITLE

edit

Has anyone ever realized that is called a Jackson Rhoads, not a Jackson Randy Rhoads?

I am not going to be responsible for changing the title because I am sure people have linked to it and I don't want to make those links invalid. But yes, it is called the RHOADS!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:983:8000:E01C:8C6F:1792:8EE4:7C56 (talk) 15:47, 16 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I do not know how to create, rename, or move a page (should be "Jackson Rhoads") - but I removed as many "Randy" listings as I saw in the article. I may have missed a few.
