CBS Eye on People

edit
  • When this channel first launched (in 1997), it was called CBS Eye on People, and was predominantly run by CBS News. One famous program was "60 Minutes More". Fittingly, its logo was a stylized face with the CBS eye, and a stylized "p" juxtaposed into it.

The Discovery Channel Cometh...

edit

In 1998, under increasing financial woes and barely a year of operating EOP, CBS sold the channel to Discovery, who axed 60 Minutes More, and changed the channel's name to Discovery People, and altered the "face" logo, replacing the CBS eye with the Discovery globe.

The rise and fall of Civilization

edit

In 1999, another name change came, "Discovery Civilization". Then, blah blah, and yeah, Discovery, New York Times blah blah blah...

Anyone remember CBS Eye on/Discovery People? WizardDuck 16:33, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Channel focus?

edit

What is the focus of the channel? The programming of the past and future versions of the channel are described, but not "Discovery Times" itself. 220.253.112.193 (talk) 13:17, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Investigation Discovery

edit

When Discovery Times becomes Investigation Discovery, should this page be moved to the new name or keep this article how it is and create a new page for Investigation Discovery? I think it should be the latter since this will be like a new network. 53180 (talk) 18:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)53180.Reply

Do you have the logos of CBS Eye on People and Discovery People?

edit

Do you, by any chance, happen to have the logos of CBS Eye on People and Discovery People? If you do, could you please upload them for me so that I'll put them in the logo gallery section of this page? AdamDeanHall (talk) 20:31, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The image File:Discovery Civilization Channel.PNG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Discovery People and Discovery Civilization

edit

Are there any sources that indicate that this channel was once CBS Eye on people/Discovery People which was rebranded as Discovery Civilization? I have found lots of sources that indicate that Discovery Civilization was launched back in 1996 and that the two channel coexisted for quite some time. It appears that Discovery People continued operating until 2000 after Discovery had pushed operators to switch for Discovery Health instead, and that Discovery People quietly closed down thereafter. Whatever happened to CBS Eye on People?

Whatever happened to CBS Eye on People? Where did it go? AdamDeanHall (talk) 22:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I made a mistake

edit

Discovery Civilization is not actually the successor to Discovery People, Discovery Health Channel was. I did what I did based all on personal memory, and I apologize for screwing up. (I didn't even know any of this until about a year ago, by way of a trudge through HighBeam Research). I'll help fix the article. - WizardDuck (talk) 23:54, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Genre?

edit

The genre on here should be true crime but the style is documentary style. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.89.236 (talk) 12:10, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Investigation DiscoveryID (American TV channel) – It seems that following the recent logo change two years ago, the network has put more of a focus on branding itself as "ID". Along with the international variants, I propose renaming the article to "ID" to reflect the shift in its branding. JE98 (talk) 20:29, 30 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

On Case With Paula Zahn

edit

I love this show but since the new season started I’m finding that the show flips to too many scenes very fast and it’s quite irritating 2600:1702:3900:9A50:3592:9908:E484:173A (talk) 04:46, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
