Reason for category
editAccording to this article's "History" section, "The original riverside roadway along the southern bank of the Mohawk River in western Schenectady was designated as part of NY 5S in the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York." And, then, according to New York State Route 5S's "History" section, "In 1908, the New York State Legislature created Route 6, an unsigned legislative route that began in Buffalo and proceeded eastward across New York to Albany." "Route 6" was the original road that became 5S. 5S, in turn, became I-890. Therefore, I-890 was "opened" in 1908 and was "designated" in 1962. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 01:37, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- That's a massive stretch of the imagination. There's no connection between the current freeway and the turn-of-the-century riverside road, other than the former was built over the latter. It's very misleading to say that this road, in its current incarnation, was open at any point before the 1960s. (As an aside, these categories seem pretty pointless.) – TMF (talk) 02:26, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
- I apologize if I "screwed" up any pages. I just wanted to be able to finally do a fair amount of editing. But, once again, almost any editing I do gets me "fussed at" for it. Are there any other categories (or other similar easy edits) that I can add?
- By the way, I have another issue. I use HotCat to add categories, but sometimes it doesn't work. That's why these edits were added the old way. Do you have any idea why this happened? Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 09:37, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
