Criticism of internet addiction disorder
editCriticism section is missing. "Internet addiction disorder" seem to be kinda "fake" term created just to shift attention from "mental disorder" to "problem of Internet" - just to show internet as source of mental issues (demonization of the internet), or even if there are some people with true Internet addiction disorder, term "Internet addiction disorder" is definitely overused. Why is "Internet addiction disorder" overused over bibliomania? What is the difference? Eurohunter (talk) 17:08, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Criticism sections are generally dissuaded, since criticism should be incorporated throughout the article.
- Anyway, the criticism is: just because something is at the same time:
- fun (pleasant);
- useful;
- used a lot;

Pseudoscience
editthe concept that the the internet is addictive and the use of the term "addiction disorder" with regards to the internet is considerd a psudoscience by modern psychology. please indicate this in the article. RJJ4y7 (talk) 11:27, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- @RJJ4y7 Where did you read that internet addiction disorder is considered a pseudoscience by modern psychology? There is quite a few WP:MEDRS sources backing it up. IntentionallyDense (Contribs) 20:18, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- It is simply a proposed diagnosis, which never made it to an accepted diagnosis. Calling it pseudoscience is perhaps too strong. Anyway, for the past 50 years there was no "addiction" in the DSM. So, that's a deprecated term, it's unlikely that if it is something real about IAD, it would be then called an "addiction".
