Missing series
edit@Ankurc.17, MNWiki845, Vikram maingi, Aditya tamhankar, and Kirubar: Can anyone of you here take the initiative to create the articles for West Indies in Australia and England in Australia series in October? They seem to be missing despite having scorecards in Cricinfo. Human (talk) 01:24, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Will work on it in 3 hrs time Ankurc.17 (talk) 01:44, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Rankings
edit@Bs1jac and A Simple Human: Any idea how to update the rankings and ongoing tournament tables for this season? Loads of overlaps happening. Ankurc.17 (talk) 06:36, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Ankurc.17: Just like how it's always done? Looks like a lots of thing. If it were me I'd wait until a series in this season starts. Also any announcements from ICC that indicates ranking changes. But you can always start anytime. Let me see if I can help. Oh and you don't update them. Just add one at the beginning of the season and it should remain that way. Human (talk) 07:12, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Ankurc.17 I would say as of 1 September (instead of "the start of the season"). There is no such thing as an official "season" globally, rather each country has its own season. e.g. most European countries call everything their 2022 season, whereas Australia has a 2022/23 season. - @Ankurc.17 How you have done it looks fine... I would probably adjust the WTC after the last game of the England-South Africa series as that is very much in the 2022 season, and I don't think there are any other Tests to cause overlaps. Bs1jac (talk) 08:18, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- You mean just the last ODI b/w Aus and Zimbabwe & the last test b/w SA & Eng. Yup will do that. Ankurc.17 (talk) 08:25, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- That's where it gets fiddly because the Aus-Zim series would be counted as the 2022/23 season in Australia, even though it started in August! But yeah I agree with you. Bs1jac (talk) 12:45, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

- Maybe if Australian season was taken into account it wouldn't have been in 2022. Human (talk) 04:39, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
Number of matches in the introduction
edit@Mashfi23, Ankurc.17, and Vikram maingi: Hi all. I again feel that the sentence included in the introduction for each season stating how many matches are scheduled makes no sense and shouldn't be included going forward. It is a relic from seasons prior to global T20I status. For T20Is, we say X games plus more in Associate series, but the series on the associates season often include leading associates such as Scotland who also have games included in the "main" season (sometimes against other associates). Indeed, the associate calendar includes a few games played by full members (e.g. T20 qualifiers). As there is no clear distinction between an associate/full member season, I feel the number of T20I matches mentioned here is meaningless. I propose either omitting the sentence in future seasons; or only stating the number of Tests and ODIs (men's and women's); or stating the number of Tests and ODIs plus the TOTAL number of T20Is including those listed on the associates season page (e.g. "...X tests, X ODIs, X+Y T20Is (same for women), including many T20I matches involving associate nations"). The latter is my preference. Bs1jac (talk) 09:37, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- I am ok if the sentence is removed altogether. Ankurc.17 (talk) 09:41, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Mentioning only the total number sounds good. মাশ্ফী※Mashfi (ETP) 11:05, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks both. I think the only thing that has stopped us using the total number in the past is that it is very difficult to keep track of, but between us we should be able to keep an eye on the numbers. Can always do an end of season check as well to make sure. Bs1jac (talk) 16:09, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- I have now made this change for 2022 to start with. It is quite easy to use cricinfo list of match results by year for each format. Just need to start and end at the right point (then add or subtract a few games that go in the previous/next "season"). Probably easier for an ongoing season to stick as we have it (or remove the sentence), then change to total matches played at the end of the season. Bs1jac (talk) 17:29, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
