Clarifying the introduction

I just added a new intruduction section which gives a simple overview of the topic. I also added the broader context that explains that injection locking can occur between any pair of linked oscillators, including the delightful case of injection locking of pendulum clocks as observed by Christiaan Huygens in the 17th century. (It makes you want buy your own set of pendulum clocks, doesn't it?). "Injection locking" is generally used when referring to electronics/laser applications. "Odd Sympathy" and also "Entrainment" in this context are not well known terms, but generally refer to non-electronic/non-laser (and the latter more often to biological) systems. While they are all the same basic idea coming from the physics of coupled non-linear driven oscillators, I don't see that any are really a subset of any other. See also the entry for "mode-locking," (of lasers) which is also related, though yet a different application. If you merge, a more general title/introduction would, in my opinion, be most appropriate, with these individual topics as sub-topics. I think merging would be good. I would have thought the most general name for this topic is "phase locking", although mode-locking also sounds good.

I certainly dislike the title being entrainment (physics). Entrainment in fluid mechanics is also within the general area of physics, so this is very confusing. Entrainment (oscillators) would be a start. Chogg (talk) 16:24, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't object to merging Injection locking and Entrainment (physics), although they could be separate: "entrainment" refers to the general theory, while "injection locking" and "mode locking" are more used to refer to technological applications in the field of electronics and lasers. Odd sympathy, an obscure 17th century term with almost no usage today, could be merged into Oscillation#Coupled oscillation, Pendulum, or anywhere. Then there's Sympathetic resonance, which appears to be used more in music. --ChetvornoTALK 12:54, 4 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

A very poor article

Incredibly there is no mention of how the injection locking actually occurs: That is, the Injected signal is able to modulate some parameter in the locked Oscillator.

Also the statement that "An injection-locked oscillator (ILO) is usually based on cross-coupled LC oscillator" is simply wrong. Injection Locking can occur with any Oscillator type. This of course means that the image of a cross-coupled LC oscillator contributes nothing to the article. Gutta Percha (talk) 03:45, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
