Charm, Enchantment, Spell
editWe have WP:DISAMBiguation pages for Charm, Enchantment, and Spell (and no primary topic for any of them).
Spell (paranormal) is one sibling article.
Charm in this sense directs to that spell article.
The lead sentence of this article -- "An incantation or enchantment is a charm or spell created using words." -- implies that charm and spell are more general because they may not be linguistic. But the Spell (paranormal) does not support the distinction clearly or well, maybe not at all.
Enchantment in this sense directs here, which fits the lead sentence implication that incantation and enchantment are linguistic special cases. I think that shows poor judgment. So did some editors, years ago, the above discussion shows.
Magical formula and magic word may be siblings of this article, or need refinement to avoid confusion as siblings. Magical phrase redirects to a "Magical language" section of the general article Magic (paranormal). That section identifies Spell and Word main articles, not this one.

- According to Incantation (disambiguation), "An incantation [links here -Ed.] is a formula of words sung or spoken during a ceremony or ritual." But the text of this article concerns only fictional enchantment/charm/spell. --P64 (talk) 20:40, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- I guess "incantation" is more restrictive and refers just to spoken magic. If you say "lucky charm" that would be a tangible object, a talisman. In modern use "spell" or "spell-casting" would probably include rune magic or use of Magic circles, pentagrams or Mr. Potter waving the wand without saying anything. --Kiyoweap (talk) 13:25, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
