Merger proposal
editI propose that Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu be merged into this article, Igbo-Ukwu. There does not appear to be enough info at this point for two articles (the other is a long quote from one source, a copyright vio in itself). Anyone looking for the bronzes would most likely look first under the town name. The Igbo-Ukwu article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of the other will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. This article already contains material about the archeology.Parkwells (talk) 21:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
It does not matter if Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu is merged with Igbo-Ukwu as long as it remains a separate and distinct entity. The article is a very short synopsis of the excavation and the artifacts. However, the discovery and excavation of the Igbo-Ukwu sites is very important within the broader subject of the archaeology of metalworking in West Africa. Regrettably, since Thurstan Shaw's publication in 1970 there has not been a wealth of research. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the importance of the material. The article should be enlarged. Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu, if properly expounded is too complex a topic to be merged with current general information on Igbo-Ukwu town, culture, people, etc.Ochiwar (talk) 20:32, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments and additions - I agree with you, and my thinking has changed since the original proposal. Do we remove the Merger banner or keep the discussion record at one page or another? I forget.Parkwells (talk) 15:55, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Uchenna Nwosu founded the Apex Medical Center?
editIn the lede, this rather bizarre sentence appears: "It was in Igbo-Ukwu that Uchenna Nwosu founded the Apex Medical Center." Who is Uchenna Nwosu, and what is the notability of the Apex Medical Center? Who knows?! A Google search returns just 30 hits connected with those two phrases. This should be removed, unless someone can offer compelling evidence that both of them meet WP:N, and are appropriate to include in this particular article. Bricology (talk) 21:06, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
