Infobox Community Discussion
editI am soliciting feedback or second opinions on whether or not the infobox should contain technical details or if those details should be moved to the body of the article. Specifically CPU, GPU, and Modem. Inclusion or Exclusion with rationale is appreciated.
Inclusion I am in favor of inclusion based on consistency across infoboxes on both iPhone articles as well as most cell phones. Readers expect to see this information in a consistent location for quick reference without having to read through article prose. The article historically has this infobox information included. -Kai445 (talk) 14:06, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- There is no need to fill every field. By the time someone has scrolled to the end of the current version of the infobox, they have already passed the relevant information in the body. This is not what infoboxes are for, and the current list of included fields is far beyond what is appropriate. It’s worth taking time to read MOS:INFOBOX, but to be simple, the infobox is a lead-level summary of the article, not a datasheet or spec sheet. Another simple rule: With some rare exceptions, everything in the infobox should already be discussed in the article body. — HTGS (talk) 01:08, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
Category
editWhy is this article not categorized under "Category:Flagship smartphones", while even the article about the lower-end iPhone 16 and 16 Plus is, which are arguably Apple's mid-range models? Maxeto0910 (talk) 18:58, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- This page (and the other Pro models) should certainly be added to Category:Flagship smartphones. As for whether the “mid-range” should be demoted, I’m less certain. That category looks a little light in general, so maybe just start by adding all the phones you believe should be considered flagship first, then we can consider removing next? That would, imo, be every iPhone except the SEs and 5C and XR (etc?), up till the Pro series, then every Pro model after they were introduced. — HTGS (talk) 03:22, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
