editSurely it is obvious that is was created as a mill leat, though it is of course possible that parts of it are the original river and adjacent parts of the river are the artificial. The name surely derives from the mills belonging to the Abbey. Peterkingiron (talk) 23:46, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
