First universal health care system

edit

New Zealand had a universal national health care system from 1938, fully implemented by 1941 (see Social Security Act 1938). The National Health Service was absolutely not the first in the world, and only British views claim this. Mauls (talk) 15:19, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

The first National Health servuce including women's health care i.e. termination/abortion facilities was in the Soviet Union , or more accurately,Bolshevik Russia. Lenin, who was chiefly responsible, established a Health Commissar in 1918, with early priotiy after the Revolution. He then made the "Louse " speech and declared war on lice and rats, establishing the Health Service, the first in the world, on 1919. The Health Service grew till his death and then haphazardly under Stalin. The Soviet Health System was alleged to be the best in the world, saving 17 million lives during the War with the Nazis 1941-45. The British politician , Aneurin Bevan , was monitoring th the progress of the Soviet Health Service, its principles and modus operandi, according to the Tredegar Archive. Much of the success in the Soviet system was absorbed in the Tredegar model for the UK National Health Service. The glaring omission was women's termination/abortion facilities which followed David Steel's bill in 1967. Only then could it claim "universal " health, which had been introducd by Lenin in 1919.
Lenin lived in London about 1908 and discussed socialist / communist thinking with the Webbs near Camberwell Green (Regent's Park. Eventually they visited the SU in the 30s controversially. The Webbs never included Health reforms in their codex for the Labour Party. Lenin on the other hand discussed a universal health care system with the Fabians in 1908.That's all I can remember but your page is shockingly inaccurate. Its also true New Zealand beat the UK to it as with votes for women, but I do not know what the women's health care provision was like.

"Presented to parliament" on 22nd March 1946

edit

Looking at this tweet with newspaper cuttings, it seems there was a big announcement to the press / presentation to parliament on 22nd March 1946. Worthy of a mention?
