editCould the tone of this article be tuned a little more NPOV. Ericd 21:36 Apr 20, 2003 (UTC)
Yeah totally, "Hissene Habre was an evil man"?
I'm not at all a member of the Habré fan club. But when I read "brutal regime of terror and genocide". I've never heard of a genocide in Chad. Ericd 09:36, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
The section on legal proceedings needs either expanding or updating. What about the fact that the Chad Minister for Justice wrote a letter to the Belgian prosecutor waiving any immunity that existed for Habre? --83.23.14.124 17:06, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Also: http://www.hrw.org/en/news/2009/02/22/belgium-sues-compel-prosecution-chadian Senegal has been dragging their feet on the matter, requesting 27 Million Euros, prompting Belgium to file suit against Senegal for their inaction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.23.204.53 (talk) 17:33, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
US/France accusations
editThe links between Habre and the US seem poorly sourced in this article. The link goes to a human rights watch master page on Habre; I find it likely that the information is in there somewhere, but without a more specific link to a report or article, I can't tell for sure. Can anyone find a source verfiying this information? Otherwise, I may start trimming it back. Khazar2 (talk) 17:04, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Birth year
editThe article currently (20 July 2012) lists 1942 as Habré's birth year, but on page 109 of Nolutshungu (1996) Limits of Anarchy: Intervention and State Formation in Chad, it says: Afrique contemporaine had provided the following biographical information about him in the previous year: Born in Faya-Largeau in 1936. What sources do we have for the 1942 date? --Bejnar (talk) 19:32, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- I don't have a source for the exact date yet, but today's BBC notes that he's 69.[1] This would line up with September 1942, not 1936. Khazar2 (talk) 23:15, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
