Coastal mesic forests

edit

Coastal mesic forests are not mentioned in the WWF's definition of Hawaii tropical moist forests, but their existence is implied by Vanderbilt's ecoregion maps. I've found that they can receive up to 300 cm of rainfall per year, which would certainly make them rainforests. Other than that, I have no idea how much rainfall they receives. My best guess is 150-300 cm annually. Hala, the dominant plant, grows best with 150-400 cm of rain. The WWF mentions hala in its description of Hawaii tropical dry forest, but those receive less than 127 cm of rain a year. If anyone knows of a better definition or description of this forest zone, please add it to the article.--TDogg310 (talk) 16:30, 12 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
