best guess is we need the prefix van as he used it as part of his name during his life, removal of the prefix was once quite common and has had a very real tendancy to cause confusion when it's lack occurs in documents, especially of historical figures, I don't know of any of his family (during modern times) who didn't use the prefix, so I think we really ought to keep it attachedJohn5Russell3Finley03:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
