Needs Revision beginning at "New Findings"
editStarting at "New Findings" the article loses the encyclopedic language and instead talks about these fish being "the star of the show" and "intelligent little fish". I will do my best to begin revising, but would greatly appreciate help in the matter. The entire "Stimulus" section very closely details several experiments. This is not encyclopedic style. Rather, a very brief overview of the experiments followed by a neutral appraisal of the apparent meaning(s) of the experiments would fit better. Also, this entire section lacks any references. Without references, the entire section is worthless, as it could have been made up. We don't even know who the "owner" is, his/her credentials, and whether or not the experiments have been reproduced by others. Wyrdsol (talk) 16:23, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I think both the "New Findings" and "Stimulus Experiments" sections should be deleted outright. Considering the editorial tone and narrative style of the original edits and experiment details, I'm thinking we have a violation of WP:NOR, WP:V, and WP:NPOV on our hands. I can't see that cleanup efforts are going to be useful at all in this case unless Ikaroa is planning to come back and cite/source any of the claims made in those two sections. - I'm adding the OR template for now, unless someone can source these experiments. If the Stimulus Experiments section remains, though, it should probably be considered a subsection of New Findings, since it is part and parcel of the New Findings claims made by Ikaroa.
- (Sorry for forgetting to sign my last discussion edit!) I've gone ahead and deleted the "New Findings" and "Stimulus Experiments" sections added by Ikaroa. Combined with the "Intelligence is no myth" section previously excised, it seems apparent to me that these sections violate WP:NOR and WP:NPOV. No amount of cleanup will fix the fact that the entirety of each section requires a [citation needed] tag.
Gyrinocheilus aymonieri
editI've been thinking, since the Gyrinocheilus aymonieri is a stub, maybe it should be merged to the Gyrinocheilus article.--Parasect (Discuss) 19:55, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Chinese Algae Eater & Larger Fish
editAs there is a considerable amount of evidence within the online aquarium communities to suggest that the chinese algae eater will attack, and often kill, larger fish (even cichlids, which the article appears to suggest may be good tank companions!), I have amended the article by adding an additional paragraph giving a warning about this, and citing several sources to give the reader further info and a spread of opinion from various aquarium owners.
