Talk:Grill (cryptology)

On WP, there is a convention (now entreched beyond change) which puts cryptography as the highest classification, with other topics as branches from it. This has the beneficial effect of avoiding competitive duplicative article trees and confusing readers. As noted at cryptography#terminology (and discussed in talk:cryptography, perhaps now archived, at talk:Marian Rejewski, and at Talk;Wikiproject Cryptography) WP takes the position that cryptology and cryptography are essentially synonyms. Other languages clearly do not. So, in this instance, this article should probably be titled grill (cryptography), but there is already a grille (cryptography) which also has pride of place historically, going back to Cardan in Italy. So I would suggest in this case, the title might best be grill (cryptanalysis). Thoughts? ww 04:59, 19 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
