Source for irredentist?

edit

The term doesn't appear in the body and is not cited in the lead. If it is seen here as a simple definition of wanting to expand state borders, why does introducing this jargony word in the first sentence help our readers? (t · c) buidhe 01:28, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Irredentism means, according to the OED, The policy or programme of the Irredentists. Also in extended use: any policy of seeking the recovery and reunion to one country of a region or regions for the time being subject to another country.. Do you think that is the case here?
If you want sources that have used the term, see, e.g., [1], [2].
The term has been in the lead for 5 years or more. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 02:39, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I still don't understand how introducing this 5-dollar word in the very first sentence helps our readers if we could just explain the concept in plain English, and introduce technical terms if necessary a bit later in the article. (t · c) buidhe 07:28, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Because it is a common political phenomenon that has been studied by scholars. So it helps the reader's knowledge and understanding. That is what we are here for, right? To provide knowledge and understanding? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:52, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Revert

edit

You can add that word which would be a minor edit. Why you are reverting eveything? nirmal (talk) 03:34, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

My edit summary said Reverting WP:POV edits; whitewashing, removing maitainance templates, poor citations.
  • "Irredentism" removed.
  • "1719 to 1816" removed.
  • References to Tibetan territory removed.
  • "It is claimed that the historical "Greater Nepal" extended..." : Removed
  • "Gorkha rule" removed.
  • "It was brief" removed.
It goes on and on like this. None of these removals had anyexplanations. The statements had citations too. You didn't care.
The POV map had a "citation needed" tag. You removed it without explanation.
You also removed the "Original research" template, after having added "based on the idea that their ancesitor [sic] had conqured [sic] that land in the past". And you added a WP:FAKE citation to justify your edit, without a page number. Where in that book did you find "ancesitor" (or "ancestor")?
You added a section called "Greater Nepal movement in India". But your content doesn't show any such movement. Neither does the source.
You added a section called "Controversies in mass media" where supposedly "India had posted a Akhand Bharat", which is prama facie off-topic. It is a wall mural in the Parliament building. The idea that it represented "Akhand Bharat" is somebody's interpretation (on Twitter). Yet you think it is fine for Wikipedia to call it "The Akhand Bharat" map? Have you checked all the sources on the topic, as you are required to do as per WP:NPOV? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:43, 9 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
