The "17:12, 18 May 2005 220.110.66.121" edit was me, by the way, if you want to direct your comments; I forgot to log in. It's very list-y at the moment, and the contributions of the different disciplines needs to be elaborated on. Montague Ring

Gastronomy is the study and practice of preparing, serving, and enjoying fine food. It encompasses the cultural, artistic, scientific, and sensory qualities of food, including its taste, smell, appearance, and texture. Gastronomy often involves the exploration of culinary traditions, innovations in cooking techniques, and the relationship between food and society. It is a broad field that integrates aspects of nutrition, cooking, culinary arts, food science, and the history and culture of food. Gastronomists or culinary experts may focus on creating exquisite dishes, understanding the science behind cooking, or studying the cultural significance of different cuisines.

Someone who practices gastronomy is a gourmet?

edit

A person who practices gastronomy is called a gourmet? The article doesn't specifically say that, but implies it. Mdmcginn (talk) 12:03, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

This article was in shambles

edit

Hi. This article was in shambles -- a mess of completely uncited statements and Synthesis.

I've stripped it down to those few statements which follow the Wikipedia rules.

In the future, please acquaint yourselves with how Wikipedia works before writing an article.

Thanks.

terminology distinctions

edit

The opening section of this article makes a distinction between a gastronome and gastronomist. Cited is a web page with no apparent authority on the topic; this citation is credited to an author whose name appears nowhere on that page. The distinction made is not supported by any authoritative dictionaries I've consulted (a point User:BiT made six years ago). 2605:6000:EE4A:2900:6250:C93B:E4D4:B4BC (talk) 03:04, 29 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Food-Trend: Fashion and Food

edit

These brands:

They all fight against the problem "Showrooming" which is a major issue for the above brands, because people come only to their outlets and buy the stuff later online at home. The idea is to bring more customers back to their outlets because of "Food", "WiFi" or whatnot service.

Hackett opened up a Gin-Bar in London in October 2013, where the interior of their bar looks more like decoration rather than a real store.

With "Haute Cuisine" (Gastronomy), regional products, vegan dishes or strong coffee it's much easier. Gastronomy supports social contacts and became a status symbol too. conscious and highquality consuming is on the rise, like for e.g. in Superclubs or at Streetfood markets.

Anyone an idea where this maybe "future trend" (since 2013) would be best addressed the best? Thanks!
