I'm working to improve this article, which isn't adequately sourced at all. Note that, if one searches, there are at least two other people known as Gary Stretch: this guy is a rubber-faced freakshow performer, and this guy who was convicted of murder. Neither is the boxer/model/actor. -- 87.112.70.245 (talk) 13:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

www.squidoo.com/britishchampions-lightmiddleweight#module24399842 has a reasonable summary of Stetch's boxing career, without all the "pretty boy ... iron chinned" nonsense the Wikipedia article has. I don't claim that squidoo is a reliable source, but surely we can find proper sources for this material. I'll keep looking. -- 87.112.70.245 (talk) 13:12, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio (gone now, I think)

I've removed some really bad tabloidy language; only once that was done did I read his IMDb bio [1] which looks like it's the source. I think I've removed everything that came from that. 87.112.70.245 (talk) 17:06, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

This message appeared on my own talk page:

I read your article on Gary Stretch and was surprised when it said that he knocked Eubank down twice and that the stoppage in rd 6 was controversial. I then watched the fight on Youtube. Eubank wasn't knocked down at all. He did slip twice in rd 2 and in rd 3 but both were clear slips and not called as knock downs. Also the stoppage was not controversial as Stretch was knocked down twice (once through the ropes) and was in bad shape when the ref stopped it. I don't think the existing description of the fight is accurate. added at 14:47, 25 January by User:2016‎ 196.215.80.244

If (or so far as) "your" in "your article" is singular: I haven't edited the article in six years and indeed had forgotten who Stretch was.

But that's a minor point. What matters is the accuracy of the article. Thank you for not altering it to accord with your interpretation of a video, and for the moderation of your conclusion, "I don't think the existing description of the fight is accurate." I know next to nothing about boxing and can't comment. But I do notice that all of

Stretch suffered a cut behind the ear in the first round and was shaken by an uppercut in the third. Eubank was down twice in the fight, in the second and third rounds, and was cut badly in the fourth round by a straight left hand from Stretch. The doctor was called at the end of round 5 to look at Eubank, (the cut later needed 16 stitches) advising the referee to stop the fight. The referee gave the Eubank corner the famous 'one more round' advance notice speech. In the sixth round Stretch had a point deducted for pushing Eubank onto the canvas; Stretch was then shaken by a right hand from Eubank and subsequently took a standing eight count. The fight was stopped in Eubank's favor, a stoppage that was very controversial. All three judges had Stretch ahead on the scorecard at the time of the stoppage.

within the article as it exists now is completely unsourced. This is completely inadequate. I have asked about this elsewhere; I hope that somebody knowledgable can help, of course providing reliable sources for all the material that survives the revision process. -- Hoary (talk) 23:43, 25 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
