Glovno artifacts and information found in US

edit

I only discovered a few months ago, working with an extremely talented genealogist, that my family comes from Glovno. Last week I went to the large, well kept tract in upscale suburban Beth David cemetery, Elmont, Long Island, run by the Glovno immigrant society. You enter it between two large pillars with GLOVNO on them. I found my Great Grandmother and Grandfather there. Because so many Glovno people emigrated to America, the genealogist uncovered an abundance of material in English-- pictures, the works-- quite a bit online. Because the Nazis hit Glovno hard, and the town was poor to start with, there is probably information in the US about Glovno no longer available in Poland. I will post some of it here when my classes for this semester are launched. Profhum (talk) 03:49, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am from that town too - 'saludos' to a fellow Glownoman, and my grandmother, who lived there at the end of the war, had helped two Jewish men survive the Halocaust who consequently emigrated to Israel.DarioTW (talk) 23:10, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
