The area of Ka'upulehu is notable for its petroglyphs, which were preserved and public access was provided when this resort and the ones nearby were built. Also notable is the Kona Shuttle private charter airline for these resorts. My thought was to have one article for the area, with a mention of the resorts without the marketing words. The other resorts are Kuki'o and the Kona Village.
I would agree that the area is undoubtedly notable but that the hotel complex is not. I would suggest an article on the area with passing mentions of the hotels and golf course as you suggest. Jezhotwells (talk) 18:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
As of 02:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC), content has been merged appropriately into Kaupulehu, Hawaii by W Nowicki, however there is good evidence that the hotel is notable and has significant coverage in reliable sources (The idea that one of the top hotels in the world is not notable is ridiculous. The spa alone has been rated one of the best in North America, and the impact of the hotel property was the subject of a published study by Kepā Maly and Paul H. Rosendahl. According to Pacific Business News,[2] the hotel has been named number one in Hawaii by Travel + Leisure and the top resort in the United States by Zagat[3]). Therefore, any attempt to restore the redirect and recreate the article should focus on adding reliable sources. Article should not have been moved without continued discussion due to the original AfD nominator attempting to go around consensus above, and the page history is now intact as a redirect until further expansion is attempted.
