A few years before, at least one of Lyndon Johnson's sons-in-law (maybe both) did fight in Vietnam... AnonMoos (talk) 17:13, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Trivia?

This was in the second paragraph "(Eisenhower later enlisted in the Navy Reserve)." Is it significant? RJFJR (talk) 14:48, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Fortunate Son. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

About "Origin"

edit

First just - A lot of water has flown under the bridges since I was active at (this) Wikipedia (or any other Wiki). My name is John P Eriksson, Sweden, 59 years old. Around 1977-78 I began to listen to CCR ("Live In Europe" 2xLP was my first CCR-record and it includes "Fortunate Son", which together with "Up Around the Bend", "Bad Moon Rising" etc soon became unforgettable splendid rock songs) Some years later I learned that "Fortunate Son" which truly is great piece of rock music sooner, than what's stated in the article, is about the fortunate ones, young men who should have become enlisted for the war, but who circumvented the enlistment through their very rich or other ways powerful fathers. Some lyrics from John Fogerty :

  • "Hear me, hear me - I ain't no senators son"
  • "Hear me, hear me - I ain't no millionaire's son"
  • "Hear me, hear me - I ain't no military's son"
  • "I ain't no fortunate son"

Except for having listened to this song again, I ain't having no source. But am I wrong ??? If not, I would you friends to help me finding good sources from that time 1969-1975. And improve this particulary article part. Please! And whatever mr Fogerty might have written some 45 years later, his perspective or memory or might have changed since. The truth as of 1969 was Fogerty's displeasement of the fortunate ones who trough special channels managed to keep their sons out of that war. /John P Eriksson 83.254.179.26 (talk) 04:02, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
