Talk:Fattah-1 (missile)

Latest comment: 1 month ago by William M. Connolley in topic Why isn't there an article for the Fatteh-2?

Are sources reliable??

edit

We shouldn't necessarily believe political claims about this rocket, which obviously is aimed at scaring people. Also, all sources are Iranian, or based on Iranian sources. We need to wait for independent verification to take claoms as facts. It's better to say "claimed to he able to...", rather than stating claims as fact. 85.148.15.169 (talk) 14:14, 6 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

"according to" have been added
Al Jazeera, Euronews, Reuters, should be ok for 2nd sources, as some others like The Washington Institute/private think tanks are highly biased and meant for fearmongering purposes.
Otherwise most main source about an Iranian product specification that just have been unveiled should naturally be from Iran and waiting for external speculations or analysis to make the analysis section, not much is known about this missile yet and it has not been used in a real situation, not even the payload weight is disclosed for the moment. Emphasis on hypersonic flight is improper

edit

All ballistic missiles are hypersonic so why is it included so prominently in this article? My estimation is that it is meant to improperly associate it with modern hypersonic weapons. YEEETER0 (talk) 21:35, 21 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

In the article on hypersonic weapons, 5 types are mentioned, one of which is ballistic missiles. Is'nt it? -- Iri1388 (talk) 19:22, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
The article references it as a “hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile”? The implication there is that normal ballistic missiles aren’t hypersonic which is obviously incorrect. When I say modern hypersonic missiles I mean recent developments like hgvs and hypersonic cruise missiles which this is not. I perceive the emphasis the article currently puts on it to paint this missile as being part of that category. YEEETER0 (talk) 03:06, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
About the emphasis, the reason is that its manufacturer claims it is a hypersonic weapon -- Iri1388 (talk) 19:28, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Press release

edit

This entire article reads like a press release for the missile.

'Some ballistic missiles already reach hypersonic speeds, Fattah however belongs to a new class of weapon that only a limited ranks of countries possesses.'

Ignoring the English I see only an opinion piece as a citation with no evidence cited in that opinion piece.

'Fattah 1 is a precision-guided two-stage solid-fueled missile with a range of 1400 km and terminal speed of Mach 13 to Mach 15.'

'Fattah 1 is a precision-guided two-stage solid-fueled missile with a range of 1400 km and terminal speed of Mach 13 to Mach 15. Its warhead has a spherical engine running on solid fuel with a movable nozzle that allows the warhead to increase its own speed and move in all directions.'

Citations the same writer as the earlier phrase, and https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Tasnim_News_Agency

'Accuracy Maneuverability to cross the missile shield'

This is not a measure of accuracy. Accuracy should be a radius the missile will be able to land in x% of the time.

'Maximum speed Mach 13 – 15' comes in the article from: 'Fattah 1 is a precision-guided two-stage solid-fueled missile with a range of 1400 km and terminal speed of Mach 13 to Mach 15.'

https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Hypersonic_weapon informs 'Other types of weapons, such as traditional ballistic missiles, may achieve hypersonic speeds but are not typically classified as hypersonic weapons due to lacking the use of aerodynamic lift to allow their reentry vehicles to maneuver under guided flight within the atmosphere.'

This missile is not a hypersonic cruise missile and there is zero evidence beyond statements from Iranian government affiliated sources that it is a hypersonic glide vehicle.

Why, given the lack of evidence of the actual capabilities of this weapon, is propaganda being repeated verbatim and being used as a citation? Where are the tests showing the capabilities of the missile? Failing that where is the evidence of it in use, and it having the capability to significantly change its trajectory?

It's shameful that this is being presented as fact: this page as it stands now is repeating propaganda. At very least it needs to be made very clear that there is no evidence of the capabilities of this weapon. 46.227.205.129 (talk) 14:07, 15 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't there an article for the Fatteh-2?

edit

I don't know it just seems like there needs to be considering they are quite different things to begin with. 50.222.175.18 (talk) 01:24, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

There is no reliable info about it William M. Connolley (talk) 08:40, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
