I just attempted to rewrite it. It's not perfect, but it's better than before. Angel caboodle (talk) 03:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nicely done. Some awkward diction aside, it's got a good formal look to it that bios of the other characters I've read so far is screaming for.Kuahmel (talk) 08:07, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Emmalene"?

edit

Is there any proof whatsoever that this is her actual name? --awh (Talk) 09:59, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • To answer my own question, I just did some internet scouring and can only find the name "Emmaline" in this wikipedia article and in a random fanfic. I'm changing it back. --awh (Talk) 10:02, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Michela is her real name and was used once in the original series, and in DTNG Chester found out, maybe read her mail, and kept calling her that. Infinare 14:32, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • No, sorry. Google Searches for 'emmalene nelson degrassi' and 'emmalene spike degrassi' bring up 3 pages, 2 of which are pages that you've edited in Wikipedia this past month. I have a hard time believing that the entire internet would be unaware of some fact that you seem to know. At least cite an episode number or something... --awh (Talk) 20:00, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
      • Regarding Chester in “Modern Love,” I think Chester was trying to annoy/flirt with her. When was she called Emmalene on the original series?--Max Talk (add) 04:57, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
        • Judging from this excerpt from "Weird Science," where Snake and Emma are becoming friendly again after Emma's finished being bratty about him dating her mom, I think that "Emmalene" is a friendly nickname that people call Emma when they're teasing her.
          • Emma: Okay. Thanks, Snake.
          • Mr. Simpson: No problem, Emmers.
          • Emma: Archibald.
          • Mr. Simpson: Emmalada.
          • Emma: The Snakester.
          • Mr. Simpson: Emmalene...
        • ... I'm not actually sure that Emmalene is even a real name, and even if it is, it doesn't seem like the sort of name Spike would pick for her child. Sometimes I add endings to the ends of my friends' names because it sounds stupid and I think it's funny. "Natholomew," "Thomasina," etc. Let's just call her Emma until you have one of those reference thingies. Caprica 20:28, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Birthday

edit

I know by 2001 she was in grade 7 and most people in that grade would have been born on 1989, but she was born in between Season 2 and Season 3 of Degrassi Junior High. That would make her birthday on 1988.

    • This is still pretty confusing, though. According to the back of the original VHS of School's Out it cites Spike, Wheels, Snake, Caitlin, etc. having graduated in 1992... follow me here. Doing the math, it would mean Emma was born in June 1988, like said in the article. All we know is that Emma was born the summer after Spike finished 8th grade, this is where it gets confusing (she had her at the end-of-the-year dance). If one was to go by the real Degrassi timeline and cite School's Out took place in June of 1991, this would mean Emma was born in the summer of 1987. Therefore, she would have most likely been in the class of 2005... which she obviously wasn't. Besides, for the most part, if you're a senior now you were most likely born fall '88-spring/summer '89, unless you were promoted, but I can't imagine Emma being that perfect a student. Looks like we'll have to look into this :P
Following the original series, Spike would have given birth in the summer of 1988. Im not sure what happened in School's Out but if it enforces that Emma was incorrectly born in 1987, it could be a continuity error. And 1988 seems more reasonable than 1987 (probably her mother signed her up for school a year late or something.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xallium (talkcontribs) 12:18, 5 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

{{cite episode}} template

edit

This is what should be used for references on this and all other character pages. It provides a way to reference a particular episode. Cliff smith 00:59, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Junior High

edit

This character is not just on DTNG, and the article should reflect that, but the intro doesn't, neither does the character box. 132.205.44.5 (talk) 23:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Episodes list

edit

I removed the long, unnecessary list of episodes that Emma has been seen in. Such a list would have been necessary for a less-major character, but Emma has been seen in numerous episodes across the entire time line of the series. Posting a list of every single episode she's been shown in is completely unnecessary. Angel caboodle (talk) 03:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

How long is she staying in high school?

edit

In Season 1 she was in Grade 7, right? So how come she (and Liberty, Toby, etc.) are still in high school in Season 7? Did the show just say to hell with continuity at one point? Or did they have two seasons of the show take place within one year of show time, or something like that? I thought Paige, Marco, Ashley, etc. were one year ahead of Emma, so if Paige entered university in Season 6 then why is Emma still in high school in Season 7? --Mathew5000 (talk) 14:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Season 6 takes place at the first semester of emma's 12th year, and 7 is the second semester after Christmas.

Speaking of season 7, were the episodes all intentionally titled after 80s pop songs?Kuahmel (talk) 08:10, 17 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

She did not change her name, or at least it is not confirmed

edit

At the end of Degrassi Takes Manhattan, Jay introduces them as Mr. and Mrs. Gavin Mason and Emma Nelson. That means that, at least for the time being, she is still going as Nelson. Anyone who has gone through marriage planning knows that the name you are 'introduced' by is the name you want to be known as. I do not think we should change her name to 'Mason' until it is confirmed she has changed her name. 75.175.221.202 (talk) 09:42, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
