Parents
editfrench first and last name. Her parents were french ?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.126.192.105 (talk • contribs) 03:02, August 9, 2006.
Pronunciation of last name
editI'm curious as to the source of the "Ravine" pronunciation of her last name. Whoever implanted that sourced it to a Roswell DVD, yet everywhere I've heard it (including, for example, the Official Lost Podcast, the Lost Season 3 Premiere, and various talk shows) it's pronounced "Ra-vihn". With that in mind I'm changing it to "Ra-vihn." Thegibe 21:21, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- de Ravin herself confirmed that it's "Ravine" on the Opie and Anthony Show today. It should be changed back. DestradoZero 13:54, 28 April 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by DestradoTensai (talk • contribs)
- Ravin is a French aristocracy name because of the "de" which is a "particule". The particule is pronounced only with a first name as "Emilie de Ravin" or with a title as "Mrs de Ravin" (or "Count de Flandres" for an another exemple). When the name is written or said without anything, the particule is not used: "Ravin" (the particule "de" signified "of" in English, "Lord of Ravin", or Ravin alone). It is also possible to write it as "Ravin (de)" to signifify the partcule existance. Never write the particule with a majuscule is an another important rule: "Emilie de Ravin" or "Emilie de RAVIN" but no "Emilie De Ravin" or "Emilie DE RAVIN". Another exemple is the previuous French prime Minister, Dominique de Villepin... You say "Villepin" or "the Minister de Villepin" (because of the title), see : http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Dominique_de_Villepin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.121.34.15 (talk) 01:02, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Incorrect. Individuals get to decide these matters for themselves. I bet you're one of those people who think that if your mother is Jewish, that makes you a Jew. 128.211.198.153 (talk) 07:22, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's all very true - for French people. She may have had French parents, but she's an Australian actress. Her surname in Australia is surely "de Ravin", and we should be referring to her as "de Ravin", not just as "Ravin". -- JackofOz (talk) 22:43, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- why only for french people ? it's stupid! this is a french name, we need to respect the rules even if she has australian nationality. What's wrong with you ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.92.63.131 (talk) 12:37, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Expansion
editWhich section(s) should be expanded or added? — The Storm Surfer 23:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- The biography and lead. The references are great, and the filmography section should be merged and deleted. --thedemonhog talk • edits 04:33, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Film rumors
editI removed the following text from the article:
- Rumored to be casted in two movies. "The Perfect Game" and "Ball Don't Lie" Still yet to be confirmed.
If someone can come up with a reliable source saying that she is rumored to be in these movies (Does that even make sense?), this sentence has no place in the article. Even if you can, it's probably questionable. — The Storm Surfer 13:54, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Variety is a reliable source. It has NEVER been wrong. Also, not reliable but I'll say this anyway, imdb has added Emilie on the ball Don't Lie cast list. I don't see why those two movies can't be put to her filmography. Variety is very reliable so that shopuld be enough. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.197.4.121 (talk • contribs) 09:48, 4 July 2007
- I don't think it would be appropriate to add a film to the filmography until it has been released (anything could happen between now and then). If you want to put in the information from Variety, please at least identify which issue it was reported in, and preferably the page number. — The Storm Surfer 04:55, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have the magazine or the issue. I got this info from Variey's homepage. You can read the article's for both movies in these links: Ball Don't Lie: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117966941.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&query=emilie+de+ravin
- The Perfect Game: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=20810(I couldn't find the Variety(I couldn't find the Variety article but ComingSoon.net takes almost all its info from Variety so I think this should be enough)

- Also, I don't see the problem with adding these movies to her filmography. We can put the status as in-production or something. A lot of other actors have their upcoming movies in their filmography on their wikipedia page. Why should we be any different. Besides, didn't we get our info of Emilie being in The Hills Have Eyes from Variety? You want us to wait for the movies to come out first? Then how are people gonna know whats Emilie is doing. Wikipedia is supposed to up to date right? At least we can add something about these movies. Like what we had before. I don't remember how that went but lets add to her career section that she is rumored to be in these two films!
Do we have a source on the Twilight listing or is this just speculation. From what I understand from the Twilight article, only two actors have been confirmed, neither of them being Emilie. TheJudge310 (talk) 18:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Wicked: Witch???
editSomeone keeps putting Wicked: Witch in Emilies filmography. What is the source for this information? There is none. I've looked into this and found no evidence of this movie even being made. This does not belong to her filmography! Correct me if Im wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.197.5.116 (talk) 20:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.
- Is it well written?
- A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
- In the Career section, "In 2005" and "In 2006" it would be best if there was a comma placed after 2005 and 2006.

- B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
- In the lead, fix the link to "Maxim" and italicize it, since its a magazine and per here. In the Career section, fix the link to "Variety" and italicize it. Same section, italicize the mentions of "Onimusha" and "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". The article has a red link, if it doesn't link to an article, un-link it, per here.
- Check. Also, since she's Australian, the dates like this ---> "January 1, 2005", are gonna have to be formatted, per here and here. -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 20:56, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

middle name?
edit209.244.7.241 (talk) 10:21, 26 January 2010 (UTC)I was curious who decided to give Emilie de Ravin a middle name, since she's never spoken about it in any interviews.
Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
editCyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

The article is a good start. Of notable praise is the state of references. - it is properly referenced. Keep the article as referenced as this (or better) as you expand. Also, a section which deals with both critical as well as audience acceptance of her (properly referenced) should be included. Wish you the best. --soumtalk 03:08, 20 March 2007 (UTC) |
