Merge proposal

My view is that this article and Elizabeth Parker hut fit well together in Alpine Club of Canada. The article size is then nicely proportioned and the reader can find all relevant information in one place without swapping articles. BlueValour 09:05, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Elizabeth Parker is notable in mountaineering. Having just started the article less than two weeks ago, it is still a stub to be expanded into a full article. How did she go from being a journalist to become interested in mountaineering? Those kind of biographical details do not belong in the ACC article, which should cover it's history up to the present day, should mention about the ACC huts, ACC chapters, and mountaineering programs. At this point, I don't think the Elizabeth Parker hut article should be merged either. There is a category of huts. If we merge one, we should merge them all (which I don't advise). --Aude (talk contribs) 13:55, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
These are just a couple online sources. I also have numerous print sources to work from. For now, this article will be a stub as I work on other key Canadian Rockies articles, such as Jasper National Park. But, I'll get around to working on this one at some point. --Aude (talk contribs) 21:47, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • -1 from me for merging (though I'm biased, being the author of the hut article. :] ) There exist about 25 huts managed by the ACC, each with different facilities, nearby climbing objectives, history, etc. Merging them all into the ACC article would generate alot of unnecessary bloat. I've also mentioned this on the WikiProject Mountains talk page, in case anyone would like to chime in there. Aude's right; these articles should be treated as stubs. I'll mark them as such, and we can all add more detail. --ghoti 15:39, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Do any of them have notable features? If not they do not merit an article. A category is fine but no more. If this hut is not merged then, IMHO, it will be an AfD candidate. BlueValour 21:27, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • The huts are generally important landmarks in the backcountry of the national parks. Also, the first annual ACC ski camp was held at Elizabeth Parker Hut. [1] More aspects of the history of the huts can be included, their significance to mountaineering, etc. I have also found references to the huts and ACC in going through the NY Times historic archives. --Aude (talk contribs) 21:47, 16 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
