Radio Interview
editI heard an excellent interview with Eli Wallach on public radio. Can anybody locate it on the Internet? I think it was a few years ago, but I forget who the interviewer was. Unfree (talk) 02:30, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Eli Wallach a.k.a. Eli Wollich
editAs a distant niece - my grandmother Bessie was Mr. Wallach's first cousin. They used to play in PA. Her sister Neetza, when she was alive, showed us a card written and signed by him. as well as a family picture as children sitting on a stoop. The family story was that the family name was a Pennsylvania Dutch name "Wollich" and was changed for Hollywood to "Wallach". It originated from the Pennsylvania Dutch Quaker. His family was from Pennsylvania but relocated to Brooklyn. Then, he went to Hollywood and the rest is history... CreativePrincess (talk) 16:25, 28 February 2011 (UTC)CreativeLady
- An interesting story, Creative Princess. It doesn't match with Wallach's autobiography though. The Pennsylvania Dutch were Germans while according to Wallach his father and mother were both from Przemysl in southeast Poland --and he asserts that they came directly to Brooklyn (Bensonhurst, specifically). - Was he Jewish? At the time of his death, Wikipedia identified him as "a son of Jewish immigrants" -- but that strongly implies that he converted to another religion or renounced his Jewishness. However, most of the online obituaries say he was "Jewish," mot merely "a son of Jewish immigrants." What does it mean when Wikipedia says someone is "a son of Jewish immigrants" but will not identify the person as a Jew? 70.36.137.173 (talk) 04:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- He was cremated, so obviously not religious. So ethnically Jewish, but not religiously so. 76.168.10.186 (talk) 06:43, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Rhinoceros
editHow come there's no mention of the Broadway production of Ionescu's play, Rhinoceros, in which he played with his wife?172.56.27.97 (talk) 11:23, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Retired?
editI just want to know if Eli has retired now, as it would be worth mentioning that in his article. I know he hasn't had a new film since 2010 and at his extreme age, I can't blame him if he doesn't. So does anyone know anything helpful?

References needed
editCan anyone find references to his work on Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip and Once Upon A Time In The West? I've gone looking, but I can't seem to locate anything beyond him being IN them. The alleged quote of Henry Fonda needs a proper citation for certain. --:Challenger l (talk) 08:58, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
