Wrong terminology
editThis article is written about EBM which is a powder bed fusion process using an electron beam and pre-placed powder. Electron beam addidive manufacturing (EBAM) however is a directed energy deposition process using an electron beam and wire. There should definately be two separate articles with the correct terminology.

editthere are two different pages on th topic 'Electron Beam Melting' both referrin to one and th same technique. difference in th title is the case, th othr one goes 'Electron beam welding'

-> I cannot agree on that. Electron beam melting has been used for many years for casting ingots of titanium and other high melting point metals. The article's title should be changed into "Electron beam additive manufacturing", and a link to article "Electron beam technology" should be added. Alternately, the text of this page should be included in the article "Electron beam technology" itself, or in the article "Additive manufacturing". Lmdarius (talk) 14:21, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Collecting related articles
editI'm collecting the 3D printing articles for electron beam processes into this article. There were three such articles, and each was basically an ad for one vendor's process. Collecting them up is more encyclopedic, allows a compare-and-contrast approach, and the applications are about the same. So, unless someone objects, Electron beam freeform fabrication will be merged into here. Electron beam melting and Electron beam direct manufacturing have already been merged. Electron Beam Melting and Electron Beam Freeform fabrication are fundamentally different
editEBM uses an electron beam to melt a powder bed of materials. EBFF uses a wire feed that is melted. They are in different ASTM classes of AM methods, and deserve their own pages. EBFF is more similar to Electron Beam Direct Manufacturing in that the objects being created do not have to adhere to the layer constraints of powder bed processes, and they both fall under the Directed Energy Deposition section of ASTM terminology.
