So I recently say this documentary at the local university and it introduced me to El Jones, who was one of the most articulate people interviewed within the documentary. I was thinking something like this:
"El Jones is a prominent speaker in an independent documentary called "Reimagining Safety" by the filmmaker Matthew Solomon. The documentary discusses Police Abolition and/or defunding it, examining the history and role of police in the United States, and the decarceration of prisons. El Jones discusses action steps the movement is interested in, such as providing additional funding to education, public housing, and public services instead of police, as well as de-tasking police, which she roughly describes as reassigning some responsibilities Police are expected to perform but are ill-equipped to carry out, such as interventions with the mentally ill. This documentary also features the prominent journalist Alex Vitale, author of "The End of Policing, an ex-cop, Professor Jody Armour, and Nikki Blak, and others."
But admittedly this is my first attempt at Wikipedia contribution, so it's probably good I can't contribute directly to this page! Happy to provide links supporting this information and to educate myself a bit more about wikipedia contribution, but I figure adding to a talk page couldn't hurt.
