Effectiveness

edit

The article currently claims that rapid opioid detoxification is ineffective. This is a very strong statement based on a single citation. The government of New South Wales in Australia licenses clinics for ROD and has guidelines for the application of ROD. While these guidelines carry warnings and suggest that there is hype surrounding the treatment they apparently accept that ROD can work for some people. I'm sure many other jurisdictions have similar guidelines and licencing. Given that this is the case the article should be more equivocal.[1] Robert Brockway (talk) 15:18, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Detox" vs. "Withdrawal Management"

edit

SAMHSA and ASAM have been moving from "detox" to "withdrawal management" as the preferred terminology.[1][2] At some point it will make sense for Wikipedia to follow suit Prezbo (talk) 02:29, 8 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
