Seems from contemporary accounts that this was an old motel near the base of Uluru which predated establishment of Yulara which was 18 km from Uluru. I'd be interested to know if this motel was one of the base of the rock establishments, as the Yulara article suggests the leases on these properties expired in 1984 and the places were all closed. I'm having trouble finding any references to where exactly this motel was, because news reports of the day don't mention where it was, apart from near "Ayres Rock". One report does mention the driver was found wandering near "Yulara Construction Camp" which suggests at the time of the crash the town wasn't there yet, and that this camp was located elsewhere to the motel. I am curious about what happened to the motel after the crash (was it repaired, or with the expiration of the lease imminent, was it demolished rather than being repaired?) I am one of the victims of that incident and yes the Inland Motel was rebuilt. All building materials were donated by the builders of the yalara resort that was in construction at the time and was rebuilt by the workmen of that resort in their spare time. It was later demolished as were all motels surrounding the rock and the Yalara resort became the only accomodation source out there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LydsH (talk • contribs) 11:54, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
