Tako je 1858. godine iskoristio članstvo u jednoj međunarodnoj komisiji za formiranje granica između Turske i Crne Gore i spasio od propasti devet starih srpskih rukopisa iz manastira Dobrilovina u Hercegovini.
During the Second World War, the monastery was abandoned.
In 1989, the Serbian Orthodox Church renovated and consecrated the monastery. The residence was temporarely at the former primary school building.
The frescoes date to 1613 and are considered the work of renowned early 17th-century painter Georgije Mitrofanović, but as a result of frequent destruction of the grounds, these are in poor condition.
There are 10 manuscripts from Dobrilovina kept in the National Library in Belgrade, and many others in Russia.
