Missing info?

edit

The article states "Quinn has faced harassment in response to Depression Quest since the game's initial release", but never explains the connection between the harassment and the game. What about the game has triggered the harassment? Powers T 13:39, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Zoe Quinn's pronouns

edit

Looks like Zoe has been using they/them pronouns, as shown on their own article. Someone might want to update this page to reflect this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.232.209.215 (talk) 22:56, 9 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Question regarding claimed dislike of the game

edit

"some gamers who disliked its departure from typical game formats emphasizing violence and skill" is stated in the article, but not one of the links is any source that verifies this was the case. It's also simply a bizarre claim to make since there have always been numerous games that depended on neither violence nor reflexes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.0.141.37 (talk) 11:14, 15 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I checked the three sources. I don't think that Misogyny online\: a short (and brutish) history is a good source, in that it does state that Depression Quest faced a backlash from gamers, and it does state that it differed from the standard gameplay, but does not connect the two. But I think it is a reasonable interpretation of what is written in Crime, justice and social media, where the author describes how it departs from mainstream gameplay and then writes "Depression Quest was met with hostility by gamers who alleged that 'political' games were infiltrating and supplanting gamer culture." It isn't an exact match, but I think the description in the article could reasonably match what the author was saying, however it is implicit and I woudl rather an explicit connection. The third source, "Gendertrolling: How Misogyny Went Viral" I do not have access to, so I cannot confirm. At the moment, I have removed the first source, as I could not see how it supported the claim. The second source would be ok if it has the third source to support it. I would love to see the text of the third source, and I'll do my best to confirm what it has to say. But if someone else has access that would help a lot. :) - Bilby (talk) 09:16, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
