Zoroastrians
editUm, while I understand the historical importance of Zoroastrians in Central Asia, could someone please explain to me why Zoroastrianism makes up most of the lead, and has a picture in this article? These seem better placed in "Historic Religions of Central Asia", rather than in a Demographic article. Also, please cite a source for the 10,000 Zoroastrians in Afghanistan. 209.235.2.8 (talk) 17:18, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Much of the underlying culture of Central Asia, especially the five former Soviet Republic "Stans," is based on Persian culture, which is in turn based on many ancient Zoroastrians elements still practiced today. Does that help clear it up any? The Scythian 21:28, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't. That stuff doesn't belong here because this page is about demographics in general. Perhaps you could instead try to take over Central_Asia#Religions? Let me name several religions that are more recent and pertinent to Central Asia: Sunni Islam, Ismaili Islam, Buddhism, Tengriism, Nestorian Christianity. Please cite the 10,000 Zoroastrians in Afghanistan. Also, having the handle "The Scythian" doesn't help you look anything other than a Zoroastrianism nut so pardon us for supposing you don't realize that your favorite near-dead religion isn't as important today as you think.98.207.33.67 (talk) 01:01, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
