Please do not delete this article!
editAnybody whose story has been covered in international papers for the past months is certainly worthy of being included in this encyclopedia. I am very unhappy that some political forces, perhaps even official ones, are trying to delete this article! We must try to keep this article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baruchespinoza (talk • contribs) 19:56, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Twitter?!
editHer Twitter account is reporting that she has been executed, as of about an hour ago?

Photo
editThe photo (File:Delara.jpg) has an inadequate fair use rationale. I'm sure the photo is justified as fair use, but "This is not a copyrighted image" seems unlikely. "This is a living person" also needs to be changed, unfortunately. Loganberry (Talk) 18:58, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Iran's justification?
edit"Iran regularly rejects accusations of human rights abuses, saying it is following Islamic sharia and accusing Western governments of double standards." Iran hangs woman for murder committed when minor - report
Perhaps this should be included in the article, though I'm not sure where I'd put it. 69.42.7.212 (talk) 20:00, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
the German attitude
editThe german article (here) was suggested for deletion, because exekution is not enough for wikipedia… —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.60.54.166 (talk) 06:27, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Being covered in many articles in major newspapers around for several years is, on the other hand, quite enough for Wikipedia.JdeJ (talk) 15:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
References
editI have not followed this case at all and so I have absolutely no interest in it, in either sense of the word.
As of midnight BST 4 May (23.00 UTC 3 May) I've gone through the references, checked them all for validity, added in titles, etc. I did this partly in case those at AfD were simply seeing "Amnesty International" as the only source; however, no harm done because the references are now more fully stated, and the access dates are all right, they have all been visited and checked tonight. (A couple, you will notice, are dead links, at least to me.)
I hope this makes sense to do this i.e. by making the references fuller and clearer few can be in doubt this is notable. SimonTrew (talk) 23:13, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- hey. One can find these by searching the code in the URL. I'll fix them sometime.. 78.86.135.169 (talk) 10:55, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's not the point. A reader can't always do that (e.g. if they are using a screen reader it may not work without well defined ALT tags), and they won't display on a printed copy. That's why I always use template cite: I don't always like how that template formats things, but at least then it is consistent and has no doubt been mulled over many times, and my grumbles can go to fixing the template not having to fix every reference individually. Best wishes SimonTrew (talk) 11:33, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Dates- I give up
editThe first date (birth and death date) in the start of the lead is in a different order from all other dates in the article. i.e. September 29 instead of 29 September. I've tried to change this but my stupid editor, or me, or a combination of the two, gets totally screwed up with the right-to-left reading order of the Farsi. If anyone else can do it, please do, I have tried every trick in the book to stop it inserting the 29 immediately after lang|fa but it doesn't want to play. SimonTrew (talk) 23:22, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
POV
editThis article is POV as long as the position and opinion of Iranian judiciary system and the other side of the coin is not covered. Not a single source is cited that reflects Islamic Republic's opinion on this matter. Sinooher (talk) 11:18, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Agree. Part of my attempt to clean up and improve the references (something I do in my little gnome way anyway) was to actually show where they were coming from, so a reader who will look at (but not necessarily follow) the references gets some idea about what sources there are.
- (And I'm a subscriber to Amnesty International so I am not anti-them but it shouldn't be-- and isn't-- the only source in the article. It looked that way before I followed up all the refs.) SimonTrew (talk) 11:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Can you provide a source which provides the position of the Iranian government? 78.86.135.169 (talk) 16:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's not quite the point. Can you provide a source that says the iranian governement loves the colour blue or is quite queasy when wadis are overflowing? The point made was to provide RELEVEANT, RELIABLE sources that indicate the Iranian Govt's POV. As it happens listening to BBC World Srvice I have listened to a lot of reports but although I imagine they would be considered RS I can't quote them cos they are just on the wireless with no transcription.
