Merge proposal
editSupport the January proposal to merge School of Air Operations Control into this page. It was a brief precursor, best discussed in the context of the more modern organization of which it became a part. Klbrain (talk) 04:47, 23 April 2023 (UTC) Support. RAF School of Fighter Control Name.
editI was surprised to see your name for the unit re-established in 1968 at Bawdsey. When I was posted there as the trainee fighter controller in 1973 the unit was clearly given as RAF School of Fighter Control so I would be pleased to see your source of the name you use. - Page 113 of Sturtivant, R.; Hamlin, J. (2007). Royal Air Force flying training and support units since 1912. UK: Air-Britain (Historians). ISBN 978-0851-3036-59.
- Says "31.10.74 West Drayton, 1.5.90 to Boulmer (now referred to as RAF School of Fighter Control)". Which says to me the name was changed sometime between 31.10.74 & 1.5.90. If you can find a better source that adheres to Wikipedia:Reliable sources, add it to the article. Gavbadger (talk) 22:06, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately after 50 years I do not have to hand my posting notice from RAF OCTU Henlow to the RAF School of Fighter Control RAF Bawdsey in the rank of Acting Pilot Officer. If I can face yet another struggle with the MoD over forces records I will get a copy of my service record and then be able to add it to article. Fozzie103L (talk) 23:24, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
