A non-universal concept
editAn anonymous user added the following to this article: [1]
I replied to the this user's IP talk page with the following justification for reverting the edits:
I've been meaning to build this article for some time and have assembled a few dozen studies on animals from insects to birds to fish to reptiles to humans demonstrating that the phenomenon is more than merely a hypothesis. It is in fact simply "a situation" and saying as such doesn't imply that it is the only situation. I'm reverting your edits because they were placed poorly into the article and your references aren't properly formated (which isn't hard, since CBE, MLA, Chicago, Havard, APA, etc. are all used on Wikipedia with little argument). I appreciate the information, and do agree that it should be included in the article -- perhaps an entire section devoted to examples where DER doesn't occur. Just as other demonstrable yet non-universal concepts such as Allen's, Bergmann's, and Gloger's rules are still taught in ecology courses, so, too, is DER. Please create a new section composed as you would an informative paper instead of a list, and incorporate a proper referencing format. If you would like to help expanding this article and would be willing to provide me with your email address, I could forward a large compressed file of pdf's of the published studies and reviews I've collected thus far. Thanks, and I urge you to consider creating a regular user account to enhance cooperation on future projects. TeamZissou (talk) 10:16, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Needs more context
editNo offense but your description does not let me know really anything about what this topic is. I stumbled into here from animal communication and I still have no idea what Dear enemy recognition is. Could you please try explaining the topic again, and be as if you're explaining to someone who doesn't already know the full context of what you're talking about. 210.49.193.240 (talk) 03:51, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Proposed merger
editSurely this page should be merged into Dear enemy effect.__DrChrissy (talk) 19:43, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
