Content dispute

For some reason editors repeated remove the details about his religious missionary service in Nebraska and his attendance at BYU.

Why is that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Caj27 (talkcontribs) 01:25, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is an informational article and including religious affiliation is unwarranted and actually reflects bias - especially to cite this as reflecting "the character of the man." If the subject of the article was Catholic or Protestant would we include his/her religion? Highly unlikely.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbpr627 (talkcontribs) 18:04, 7 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agreed with Dbpr627. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.108.100.254 (talk) 15:42, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re: DBPR627, the manner in which musicians express themselves is affected by religious affiliation. The fact that Dan Reynolds and other band members have discussed the affect of their religion on their music is evidence of relevance that is appropriate for a wikipedia article. Also religious service is an outward demonstration of an inward commitment to a moral system so it provides readers insight into how devoted the musician is to a moral code. That inward commitment is an element of personal character.
Also I think it is important to note that many wikipedia articles include religious affiliation of people they describe. So it's not unprecedented to include such information. For example, see Katy Perry's article about her Pentecostal upbringing. See also Brandon Flowers.
Based on that context, I'm not clear on why you would say that it is "unwarranted and actually reflects bias." Many articles do include such information, it is relevant to the character of notable people, and it does not appear to be a matter of one religion or antoher. Please discuss and explain that further why you feel that this information should be deleted.

I know this is old, but Reynolds was in the news a few months ago talking about his faith (For example, [1] "Some days I feel like I want to be a Mormon and some days I don’t believe in God at all"), and even before seeing that article I had the impression it had had a significant influence on his life and lyrics.
Religious background and/or affiliation is common in WP biographies, including those of pop/rock stars - Annie Lennox's page even includes the religion of her not-as-notable first husband. Unless there's a good reason to start a "don't ask, don't tell" policy on WP, I can't see why we'd leave it out here. Otoh I don't want to reopen an edit war, so is anyone interested in reaching a consensus? Caj27,Dbpr627, are either of you still around and interested in this? Dan Reynolds Discography

edit

When reading Dan's discography, you will see that he is featured on Steve Angello's debut studio album, "Wild Youth." Many EDM enthusiasts, like myself, are a big fan of Steve Angello, and are probably very disappointed to see that the page for Angello's debut studio album, "Wild Youth" has not yet been created. I would gladly create the page myself, but unfortunately, I am new to Wikipedia, and don't know how to create a whole page yet. But there's always other great Wikipedia users out there who have much experience and could probably create the aforementioned page for me and the desires of other Steve Angello fans of course. So... I would highly appreciate it if someone will create " Wild Youth" by Steve Angello. Thank you. Infopage100 (talk) 12:14, 7 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Timeline of mental health advocacy

edit

The "Personal Life" says: "During the same year [2016], Reynolds revealed in an interview that he had been heavily depressed for the past two years and often sees a therapist. He aims to destigmatize and change how society sees depression and the act of seeking professional help. In April 2018, he began to talk about his physical and mental health struggles on his social media accounts and continues to offer encouraging messages of support to his fans and others struggling as well."

Did he begin being open about his mental health in 2016 or 2018? Are these sentences describing different things? It's unclear (at least to me, an albeit pedantic person). Mildlydiscouraging (talk) 01:12, 3 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
