Cyrrhus, Turkey → Cyrrhus, Syria – As the site is actually in Syria I do not understand why on this english and only page of wikipedia it appears on its wrong location. Please correct this unbeliveable incredible error. 23:54, 6 November 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeanine AM (talk • contribs) 23:54, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- Can you provide reliable sources to back up which side of the modern border the site is actually on? I've had a search but the results are confusing to say the least. 81.142.107.230 (talk) 15:50, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- According to the Google map on this site, assuming it's accurate, the site is just on the Syrian side of the border (you need to zoom out several times). Station1 (talk) 17:25, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- I wouldn't even trust Google Maps to label Syria and Turkey the right way way round... 81.142.107.230 (talk) 10:17, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

- Presumably, there must be some debate about whether this ancient city is in modern day Syria or Turkey (or we wouldn't be having this discussion). I would suggest Cyrrhus, Greater Syria because that was the nation that this city actually existed in. Jenks24 (talk) 23:47, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. The title was moved from Syria to Turkey last Jan with the edit summary "Geographical fact" but no evidence. Every source I see says it's in Syria near the Turkish border. But to avoid the issue the article could also be moved to simply Cyrrhus, with a hatnote to Kyrros Macedonia per WP:TWODABS. Station1 (talk) 06:32, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Move to Cyrrhus Unnecessary disambiguation. We don't have articles at Ankara, Turkey or Damascus, Syria. Kauffner (talk) 07:45, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- I would support the requested move.
- The archaeological project website that Station1 found seems pretty convincing, and the satellite picture is clear enough. I also notice that the project leader there is listed in the references here as a reliable source, so I’d guess they know what they are talking about. I found a couple of web pages that say the same thing (I’ve added them as external links) and sorted out some co-ordinates (also added).
- AFAICS There doesn’t seem to be any good reason why it was moved in the first place; I’ve posted to the editor who moved it for an explanation.
- Also I’d support the move as requested, rather than to a new title; either move involves a deletion, and it makes more sense to go back to the original title than to delete the dab page. Moonraker12 (talk) 15:31, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Comment I'd like to point out the editor who moved the page has now moved it back; honest mistake! can we consider the matter closed? Moonraker12 (talk) 13:24, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
