War hospital
editI've moved the name "Craiglockhart War Hospital" from where it had just been added (as a note, in brackets, at the end of a sentence) and into the paragraph about the book and film. The reason is that when this article was renamed from Craiglockhart War Hospital to Craiglockhart Hydropathic, the issue arose of whether it had ever, in reality, been called the War Hospital. Nobody could provide any evidence that it had, except in articles here on Wikipedia, and that book and film. The articles on Wikipedia may be presumed to have simply drawn the name from the article title in any case. Note, too, that the internal newspaper at the institution during the war was "The Hydra", a clear allusion to the correct name. Also, a bit of primary research and therefore inadmissible, but I think it's okay to say here on the talk page that I grew up for many years just down the road from the institution and learnt about the inhabitation by Sassoon et al while I was at school. And never, once, was it referred to as Craiglockhart War Hospital. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 12:12, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- This appears to give it as "Craiglockhart War Hospital" - indeed, it suggests "xx war hospital" was the standard name for temporary places such as this. I'm not sure if that's drawn from contemporary sources, though... Shimgray | talk | 10:26, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- That "xx war hospital" standard would make sense as the origin of this name (as opposed to a reflection of an extant name). Perhaps we should just change the article wording slightly to say "sometimes known as" rather than the current situation which implies it was only known as that in the book and film. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 10:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Only took a year but managed to get some photos this morning, makes a big difference to the article; I love this building and its history. --Brideshead (talk) 17:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
