R2V

edit

How are any of these raster to vector conversion software when under basic features WiseImage is the only product listed with the attribute of Raster 2 Vector? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Timothyslau (talkcontribs) 03:36, 7 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why is the column for Linux missing under OS support?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.56.2.112 (talk) 21:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Inkscape

edit

Hi, Inkscape ver 0.43 (Nov 2005 release) is a stable open-source release. I haven't use any other packages listed under this article (except for WinTopo Free), so am not in a good position to put comparisions. Would rather like to request if someone can update the tables with Inkscape included.

Inkscape uses Potrace, so it is not a raster-to-vector software per se. However, it adds some limited color support. -PS

Definition of features

edit

Could the author of this article (or whoever added the information) please provide definitions of the various features that are being compared? I would like to add information, but I have no idea what many of the features stand for. It is hard to say whether a certain software has, say "line connection", if it is unexplained what this is supposed to mean.

For example, I have no idea what "Maximum page size" is supposed to mean (is this in pixels? Raster graphics don't really have "pages"), nor "Maximum zoom" (the notion of "zoom" seems meaningless for vector graphics). What are "object limits" and "control point limits" - none of the software seem to have them.

What is "Color management for print", and what is meant by "scripting support" (e.g., the ability to call the program from a script ("batch mode"), or is the program itself supposed to be scriptable? and if yes, what is an example of that?) Under "auto-tracing features", what is "Line connection"?

Corel OCR-Trace missing

edit

The CorelDraw suite includes Corel OCR-Trace wich is missing from the comparative list. This is both an OCR (optical caracter recognition) and an raster-to-vector (tracing) application. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.212.65.34 (talk) 14:14, 1 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

GRASS OSS missing

edit

The opensource GIS package GRASS (http://grass.itc.it) also provides basic raster to vector conversions. I would simply ad it, but I'm not to sure about all the features it supports, or even if it is relevant to this collection of software packages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.64.81.22 (talk) 11:01, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Export formats?

edit

How about listing the formats they export to? I'm especially interested in software that can export to HPGL/1.
