Merge/Delete
editRemoved redirect of the talk page. The article's merge template points to a non-existent section of a non-existent talk page. But anyhow, this article is basically a subset of List of FTP server software so this article should probably just be deleted.

- The only article which should be deleted is the list one, as it provides no added value besides comparing FTP server software, which this article already does, and listing FTP server software, which category:FTP server software already does. -- Mecanismo | Talk 15:20, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Article renovation
edit- I've started a new comparison table, which compares FTP server software packages according to specific criteria. I haven't updated the table with the remaining entries as I don't have a lot of free time and some of the entries are a bit fishy and terribly outdated. So, please help fill the table with relevant entries -- Mecanismo | Talk 15:54, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
incomplete
editthe list is missing 50% of the popular ftp server software (for instance bftpd) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.138.115.112 (talk) 10:07, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
- WP:BOLD - so write some articles about them. Then again WP:NOTDIR says we don't need an article about everything, just the notable stuff. --Bob Re-born (talk) 10:16, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Is there any particular reason why zFTPServer Suite (around for 10 years), as well as many others have been excluded from this list. We were previously included but told that since we have a commercial software, we are not interesting and, do not qualify for inclusion and thus we were wiped out this summary page.
Some other missing FTP servers:
- Serv-U (by SolarWinds) https://www.serv-u.com/
- Titan FTP Server https://titanftp.com/
- Wing FTP Server (link removed because it's been blacklisted for some reason)
- ZitaFTP Server https://keasigmadelta.com/zitaftpserver
See https://alternativeto.net/software/filezilla-server/ for more.
What is this?
editHi guys, what is this with this comparison table. Nothing is better this one. Zimbres (talk) 19:07, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Revision needed
editThis list/comparison needs cleanup and expansion. Many popular FTPs servers are missing and the tables are unclear. The table listed under Summary board (which is a bad section name in my opinion) should be transposed so all servers fit into it (it's already too wide by now) and maybe divided into multiple tables (e.g. one for OS/License/UI and one for the other features).
The article List of SFTP server software probably could be incorporated, too (someone already had the idea and created a redirect but didn't consider to move the already present information to this list first. -- Patrick87 (talk) 16:54, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- Here was a whole lot of additional information that probably should be included on this page at some point: List of SFTP server software&oldid=546326174 -- Patrick87 (talk) 21:13, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- If you study that "whole lot of additional information" it comes down to just four articles that need to be added here. Two FTP servers are SFTPPlus (which is not worth keeping as an article and should go to AfD) and ProFTPD. Also Linoma Software go anywhere director. And It is then worth mentioning that a number of ssh implementations feature SFTP, e.g. Attachmate. That's it. Everything else was either an external link or a red link. That's why I deleted the article. --Bob Re-born (talk) 21:49, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- These are already four implementations that would've been lost if I wasn't bringing up the discussion here. Furthermore you've totally overlooked Core FTP and Copssh, both of which have an article but weren't linked in the list of SFTP servers. Also I see no mention of the SFTP capabilities of OpenSSH or lsh respectively in list of FTP servers. Also freeSSHd/freeFTPd got lost during the deletion (They don't have an article yet but definitely deserve one. They're probably the easiest free solutions for Windows.). Next I'll be missing Bitvise SSH server which also integrates SFTP (it's the SSH server running on my home server and it's by far the most advanced SSH/SFTP server for Windows I found so far that is available for free!).
These were only the ones I know myself and I didn't spend much effort yet to dig deeper into the list. I'm sure there'll definitely be some implementations left, that should be kept. And that is exactly what I'm saying: If you want to delete the list go through it, and move all the information that is useful. Otherwise use the talk pages and try to push the necessary changes. By simply deleting, everything that was compiled into the list at some point is lost for good. -- Patrick87 (talk) 22:41, 25 March 2013 (UTC)- So with your good work there are now some real articles that can be added to this one. --Bob Re-born (talk) 23:25, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Linoma Software#Software
editCan somebody check out the merits of Linoma Software#Software and the program GoAnywhere FTP Server (Free). the page notice clearly states Attention editors! No red links. Every entry in this list must have an article written in the English Wikipedia, with reliable sources to support inclusion, else it will be removed without warning. But still someone is re-adding "GoAnywhere FTP Server (Free)" while it has no own article. The Banner talk 23:19, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
