A note on name, article move, and disambiguation

I moved the article from Clement C. Clay to Clement Comer Clay after moving the article of his son, Clement Claiborne Clay, who had been incorrectly identified as Clement Claiborne Clay, Jr. (he was called C. C. Clay, Jr. only to distinguish him from his father, who also used the names C. C. Clay and Clement C. Clay). That being so, I think the name Clement C. Clay ought to be disambiguated. Right now, however, I don't have time to go through and correct all the links in the governors' pages to link to Clement Comer Clay, so I think it's probably more productive to leave Clement C. Clay pointing here for the time being. If someone has a bot or a lot of free time, a disambiguation would be a good thing. —LonelyPilgrim 22:32, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I've corrected all the links directed at Clement C. Clay which refer to Clement Comer Clay. Clement C. Clay can now be safely disambiguated. Before I do it, though, I'd like your opinions on whether or not I should. Is anybody out there watching? Clement Claiborne Clay was generally referred to as C. C. Clay, Jr., even after the death of his father, but I have found instances of him being called C. C. Clay, without the suffix, and I think it's reasonable to assume that someone looking for the younger might search without the suffix. The question, then, is whether there's enough confusion to warrant a disambiguation. —LonelyPilgrim 23:08, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Photograph

Is the fine photo in this article that of governor Clay? It seems that the gentleman in the image should be older (Clay was born in 1789, and the art of photography did not really catch on until about 1840 or so, then mostly "tin types"). If this is C. Comer Clay, he should be around fifty years old or so...--Paraballo (talk) 03:21, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
