Right, thanks for the informative reply. I'm just a bit sceptical of wiki editors seemingly dubious understanding of the relationship between clans/branches. An example is MacLeod of Raasay which had formerly been titled as "Clan MacLeod of Raasay" until I moved the page. Fitzkarl (talk) 11:17, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have the 1994 edition of the Scottish Clan Encyclopedia which was approved by the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs and it does recognise a Clan Stuart of Bute as its own clan with a chief.
